Golf Course Superintendent
Tenuta Toscana, nestled in the heart of Tuscany, is a property boasting world-class golf facilities that blend natural beauty, historical charm, and cutting-edge agronomy.
Tenuta Toscana seeks a dynamic, experienced Golf Course Superintendent to oversee and elevate agronomic operations at Tenuta Toscana’s prestigious golf course. This role demands a strategic leader passionate about delivering tournament-level playing conditions while fostering sustainability and innovation. Reporting to the Director of Agronomy, you will manage a skilled team dedicated to upholding Tenuta Toscana’s uncompromising standards of quality.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of golf course maintenance including turfgrass management, irrigation, pest control, landscaping, and environmental stewardship.
- Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic programs tailored to maintain and enhance premium playing conditions year-round.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the agronomy staff, promoting a culture of excellence, safety, and professional growth.
- Collaborate with golf operations, design consultants, and senior management on course improvements, capital projects, and tournament preparations.
- Manage departmental budgets, procurement, and resource allocation efficiently to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations, sustainable practices, and health & safety standards.
- Maintain and optimize irrigation and drainage infrastructure for water conservation and turf health.
- Proactively communicate progress, challenges, and innovations with leadership and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in golf course management, with at least 5 years as a Superintendent at a premier facility or private club.
- Expertise in turfgrass science, integrated pest management, irrigation technology, and course conditioning.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with a track record of cultivating high-performance teams.
- Strong budgeting, project management, and organizational capabilities.
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in Italian is a strong asset.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to relocate to Tuscany
