Norman Broadbent PLC, a leader in executive search, is partnering with a leading pharmaceutical company to appoint a Global Head of Engineering & HSE .

The company has a Pan-European platform developing, manufacturing, and providing high-quality, affordable medicines to over 100 million people in Europe. With four manufacturing sites and a broad network of external partners, the company ensures supply security across key therapeutic areas like Cardiology, Diabetes, Oncology, Respiratory, and CNS, with plans to expand in self-care. It is privately owned, experiencing double-digit growth, with ambitious plans for further expansion in Europe.

The Global Head of Engineering will execute strategies and engineering activities aligned with Product Supply objectives. This role is a key member of the Product Supply Leadership Team, contributing to strategic direction and operational excellence.

While headquartered in Central Europe, the role does not require relocation but prefers a European-based candidate with the ability to travel frequently.

Main Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Define and execute a global engineering strategy aligned with business goals.
• Drive process, technology, and practice standardization globally.
• Advise the Product Supply Leadership Team strategically.
• Integrate HSE into all engineering activities and ensure compliance.
• Lead sustainability initiatives and foster a safety culture.

Operational Excellence

• Oversee engineering performance, CAPEX, asset management, supply reliability, maintenance, and automation.
• Ensure facilities and equipment meet safety and efficiency standards.
• Lead multiyear CAPEX and global project delivery.

Innovation and Technology

• Promote Industry 4.0 and automation technologies.
• Drive operational efficiency and sustainability innovations.

People Development

• Build and lead global engineering teams.
• Implement career development and foster growth.
• Ensure support from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).

Sustainability and Value Creation

• Optimize resources for cost, quality, and compliance.
• Lead environmental impact reduction and energy efficiency efforts.
• Maintain site master and recapitalization plans.

Risk Management and Resilience

• Identify and mitigate engineering risks.
• Establish contingency plans for business continuity.
