About the Role
As a Global Commodity Manager for Compass, you will be the communication channel for key commodity-related topics internally and externally, working as the escalation point and the relationship owner of suppliers. The job’s expectation is to deliver commodity sourcing strategy, conduct cost analysis, RFQ discussions, complete supplier assessment, business reviews, and communicate commodity cost and sourcing solutions for key stakeholders. This role works with cross‑functional teams such as Engineering, Product Development, Technical Program Management, Product Management, Supply Operations, and Quality. It also oversees end‑to‑end supplier relationship management to ensure suppliers meet Amazon’s requirements in all aspects. Strong leadership to drive results and influence teams to achieve company goals will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Compass’ commodity sourcing strategy and execute it to best deliver cost, supply, and innovation targets.
- Lead commodity selection, contract negotiation, and new supplier introduction process.
- Ensure a competitive sourcing environment that leads to continuous improvement in quality, cost, service, and technology.
- Participate as a member on a cross‑functional team (may lead specific projects).
- Meet with stakeholder managers to understand business priorities and translate them into sourcing and execution plans.
- Conduct regular business reviews with suppliers to ensure continuous improvement.
- Execute risk mitigation, business continuity, cost management, and operation strategies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with executives and senior executives at suppliers.
- Work closely with Engineering teams to support product development efforts, influence sourcing decisions, meet customer expectations, technical capabilities, and program objectives.
- Travel periodically to suppliers’ domestic and international manufacturing sites, approximately 25% of the time.
About the team
ComPass (Companion Products & Services) product management team delivers 1P accessories and companion devices for multiple product verticals such as E‑readers, tablets, Fire TV, Echo, and Smart Home, with in‑box and standalone products, at world‑class margins.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of procurement, supply chain, inventory management, contract management, lease administration, or operations experience.
- 5+ years of relevant strategic sourcing including vendor negotiations, global contract management, process improvement, operational and financial analysis experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field.
- Experience in procurement, supply chain, inventory management, contract management, lease administration, or operations.
- Experience in strategic sourcing including vendor negotiations, global contract management, process improvement, operational and financial analysis.
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Advanced Excel, SQL, Tableau, Python.
- Experience in global supply chain management, managing cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced consumer electronics product company.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of program, project, product management, or leading a product implementation process experience.
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
