Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Program Manager
for the Strategic Business Operations & AI team to oversee large-scale, complex initiatives that span across diverse corporate functions and operations (i.e. Finance, Manufacturing, Business Development, R&D, Global Regulatory, Market Access, Business Technologies, etc). In this highly strategic role, you will lead cross-functional efforts from strategy alignment through delivery, ensuring that agreed milestones with Sr. Mgt are properly pursued at operational level among the defined stakeholders. You will act as the key coordinator aligning operational synergies and integration targets with the company's broader strategic and financial goals, reporting program performance directly to SBO or/and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities 1. Program Planning, Strategic alignment & Execution
Lead the end-to-end planning of integrated master program schedules, mapping critical paths for both corporate integration programs for diverse areas of functions/operations .
Work closely with senior leadership to align program goals with corporate strategy, defining key success criteria including financial impact, synergies, operational efficiency, as applicable.
2. Cross-Functional Leadership & Coordination
Lead core program teams across diverse disciplines, including Clinical, Regulatory, Operations, Manufacturing, Commercial, Finance, HR, and Technology platforms.
Establish program governance structures, facilitate regular cross-functional meetings, and act as the primary point of contact on behalf of SBO or/and executive sponsors to ensure alignment of priorities and resources.
3. Execution, Monitoring & Oversight
Monitor program performance incl. budgeting where applicable, track variances, and monitor progress against KPIs as per case.
Establish dashboards and reporting frameworks to keep stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and upcoming activities.
Manage interfaces and timelines with external partners, through own internal or partners' platforms/ reporting systems for reviewing.
4. Organisational Integration & Post-Program Review
Lead post-program reviews to assess the success of integration and development efforts, documenting lessons learned.
Analyse post-integration financial and operational impacts, developing optimization strategies to ensure the continued realisation of synergies.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Industry Knowledge:
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical corporations (from Discovery through Commercialization) and regulatory pathways/constraints, alongside strong business acumen regarding corporate finance and post-merger integration.
Methodologies:
Expertise in diverse Program management methodologies to adopt upon contingency (e.g. Stage-Gate governance, Agile/Waterfall hybrid frameworks, earned value management, and critical path analysis) and ability to adapt as per case and scope.
Technical Tools:
Proficiency in Enterprise Project/Program Management software (e.g., MS Project Enterprise, Smartsheet, Planisware) and risk management tools.
Soft Skills:
High emotional intelligence, cross-functional persuasion (influencing without direct authority), conflict resolution, and executive-level communication to drive effective cultural integration. Certainly a can do conclusive mentality with clear focus on conclusion and delivery of results.
Ideal Background & Career Path Candidates typically possess one of the following backgrounds, ideally with added experience in corporate integration or financial operations:
Scientific Track:
Desirable (e.g. M.S, PharmD or Ph.D.) in Life Sciences and related fields, or a sound track of engagement in pharmaceutical corporations of global presence.
Dedicated PM Track:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Engineering, or Health Sciences with 5+ years of pure Project Management experience within Pharma/Biotech. Certifications such as
PMP
or
PgMP
are highly preferred.
Management Consulting Track:
Experience at a life-sciences focused management consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, L.E.K., ZS Associates) advising pharma clients on R&D portfolio management, strategy, and operational/post-merger transformation.
The selected candidate will be employed under Category A in accordance with the provisions of the current National Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCNL) for the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry, including all applicable contractual and remuneration terms, and in compliance with Legislative Decree No. 96/2026.
