GIS Business Analyst – FLAG Supply Chain & GeoAI Solutions
About us
Chloris Geospatial is a venture-backed technology company operating at the intersection of space-tech and nature-tech. Our mission is to accelerate the global transition to a net-zero and nature-positive economy with the most reliable, trustworthy and transparent natural capital data. Today, we use industry-leading technology to measure the amount of carbon stored in terrestrial ecosystems. Our state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms fuse data from multiple Earth observation satellites to provide accurate and scalable measurements of the carbon stocks and change in woody vegetation (forests, shrubs, and mangroves), anywhere in the world. Our team has deep expertise in remote sensing, AI & ML, ecology, and sustainable business.
About the role
Chloris is looking for a GIS Business Analyst – FLAG Supply Chain & GeoAI Solutions to serve as the critical link between geospatial intelligence, business objectives, and technical teams—enabling data-driven decisions in sustainable land-use and supply chain initiatives. You’ll help translate satellite data and FLAG-specific insights into actionable strategies for clients pursuing deforestation-free, climate-aligned sourcing. Reporting directly to the Solution Leader, FLAG Supply Chain & GeoAI, the GIS Business Analyst will complement and augment Chloris’ existing expertise in developing tailored solutions to customers in the FLAG sector as a key contributor to its Solutions Business line.
Responsibilities
- Work with customers in the FLAG sector to identify sustainability challenges that can be addressed using Chloris’ proprietary and other geospatial data.
- Translate business requirements into geospatial workflows, ensuring alignment with FLAG frameworks (e.g., SBTi FLAG, TNFD, GHG Protocol LSR)
- Define and document functional specifications for AI agents, dashboards, and analytics tools using GIS layers (e.g., forest cover loss, protected areas, commodity footprints).
- Analyze and synthesize spatial datasets from proprietary and public (e.g., GFW, Copernicus, MapBiomas) sources to support customer workflows.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to ensure proper ingestion, cleaning, and use of spatial data layers.
Qualifications
- 3–6 years experience as a GIS analyst, business analyst, or sustainability data specialist.
- Proficiency in GIS platforms (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine) and spatial data analysis tools (e.g., GDAL, PostGIS).
- Strong understanding of land-use monitoring, spatial supply chain mapping, and sustainability reporting requirements.
- Experience working with FLAG-relevant commodities (e.g., soy, beef, palm, pulp & paper) and supply chain risk frameworks.
- Familiarity with AI-powered geospatial workflows and agent-based analytics.
- Ability to communicate spatial insights clearly to business and sustainability stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of SQL, Python, or geospatial APIs (e.g., Earth Engine, Mapbox)
Preferred:
- Knowledge of climate disclosures and frameworks involving geospatial components (TNFD, GHG Protocol AFOLU/LSR).
- Experience with deforestation-free sourcing protocols (e.g., NDPE policies), or jurisdictional approaches (e.g., TFA, IDH).
