THE CHALLENGE OF A “GEOSPATIAL PROJECT MANAGER – D&I” AT PLANETEK ITALIA
We are seeking a dedicated Geospatial Project Manager to oversee geospatial projects from conception through to completion. As a Geospatial Project Manager in the Defence & Intelligence sector, you will play a key role in managing and developing geospatial and Earth Observation services for defence, intelligence, and security stakeholders. You will work in a strategic and highly dynamic context, managing national and international projects in complex operational environments, while collaborating with highly skilled and motivated teams.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the full lifecycle of geospatial projects, from small‑scale initiatives to large‑scale, multi‑stakeholder programmes within the D&I market.
- Ensure proper planning, monitoring, and control of project timelines, budgets, quality standards, and risks, coordinating internal and external resources.
- Conduct regular project reviews, monitoring technical deliverables, quality benchmarks, and alignment with contractual and operational requirements.
- Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for tenders and opportunities in the defence/intelligence domain.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and institutional stakeholders to ensure project alignment with operational needs and strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (technical, product, business development) to define operational concepts, integrated solutions, and system architectures.
- Contribute to the growth of Planetek Italia’s D&I portfolio by supporting business development activities and strengthening our market positioning.
YOUR BACKGROUND:
- Proven experience in project or programme management within the geospatial, defence, intelligence, security, or Earth Observation sectors.
- Ability to interpret complex operational requirements, define scopes of work, estimate effort, plan resources, and produce technical and commercial documentation.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for interacting with technical teams, strategic stakeholders, clients, and international partners.
- Knowledge of geospatial data, GIS/EO software, geoinformatics workflows, or enterprise geospatial systems.
- Fluency in Italian and English is required.
So you must be able to:
- Define and execute project management plans tailored to the Defence & Intelligence sector.
- Engage effectively with institutional and industry stakeholders to understand operational scenarios and ensure alignment of project outcomes.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to deliver geospatial and Earth Observation services on time, on budget, and to specification.
- Participate in defence-specific procurement processes, contributing to technical‑commercial proposals and tender documentation.
- Identify and mitigate project risks in fast‑paced, evolving environments.
- Communicate complex geospatial concepts to both technical and executive audiences.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, optimising priorities and resources to meet strategic objectives.
