WSP Italia is seeking a Geologist to join our Development & Remediation Industrial & Commercial Business Unit in Milan.

By joining WSP, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary and cross-national team dedicated to the development of environmental projects in Italy and worldwide. WSP offers world-class expertise in contaminated site management, hydrogeology, risk assessment, remediation design, environmental due diligence and complex industrial projects.

YOUR NEW ROLE, WHAT’S INVOLVED?

In this role, you will perform environmental tasks requiring a solid understanding of environmental science and remediation engineering principles. You will work on specific portions of projects using established methods and procedures, supporting activities such as:

Technical Design & Documentation

  • Site Characterization Plans (soil, groundwater, soil-gas, waste, ambient air).
  • Conceptual and Feasibility Studies and project technical deliverables.
  • Supporting engineers developing calculations, simulations and preliminary analyses for remediation systems, including pump & treat, SVE, air sparging, chemical oxidation, bioremediation, etc.
  • Supporting the preparation of Remediation Reports, technical specifications, bills of quantities and tender documents.

Field Activities & Site Operations

  • Supporting site investigation campaigns: installation of piezometers, drilling supervision, sampling, soil-gas surveys, aquifer tests.
  • Assisting in the installation, commissioning, performance testing and O&M of remediation systems.
  • Conducting field verifications, progress monitoring and reporting.
  • Supporting due diligence on industrial facilities and brownfield/greenfield sites.

Modelling & Environmental Assessment

  • Contributing to Human Health Risk Assessment and contaminant fate & transport modelling.
  • Supporting hydrological/hydrogeological modelling teams.
  • Drafting technical reports, environmental assessments and periodic project progress documents.

Coordination & Collaboration

  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary technical teams (geology, hydrogeology, H&S, permitting).
  • Supporting Project Managers with scheduling, project controls and quality assurance.
  • Providing technical direction to junior professionals on specific tasks.
  • Maintaining high-quality work within scope, schedule and budget.

WHAT IF IT WAS YOU?

Candidate should have 3-5 maximum years of experience as Geologist in environmental consulting, preferably focused on contaminated site investigation, remediation design and environmental modelling.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Significative experience with site investigation/remediation/O&M activities.
  • Ability to conduct field campaigns and interact with contractors and laboratories.
  • Understanding of hydrogeology, geochemistry, and remediation technologies.
  • Good knowledge of Human Health Risk Assessment, modelling tools and environmental data interpretation.
  • Direct experience with D.Lgs. 152/2006 e s.m.i., including Part IV, Title V (bonifiche).
  • Experience in drafting technical reports, analyses and project documentation.
  • Experience in due diligence and environmental compliance is a plus.
  • Experience and ability to work on several projects simultaneously under time pressure.
  • Attention to details.

Knowledge and direct experience in supervision of characterization and remediation site activities. Experience with innovative remediation technologies (e.g., ISCO, ERD, ….) is a strong plus.

SOFTWARE SKILLS

  • MS Office
  • GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS)
  • AutoCAD
  • Basic hydrological modelling (e.g., HEC‑RAS) is appreciated.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in Geology.
  • Not less of 3 and not more of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Registered Geologist – Member of the Professional Register of Geologists of Italy.

LANGUAGES

  • Fluent Italian
  • Good English (written and spoken)
  • Other languages are a plus
