We are seeking a Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Specialist to join the Technical Services Division. The Technical Services Division is responsible for providing and managing highly technical and specialized engineering services to support the safe and reliable operation of Saudi Aramco’s electrical transmission and distribution network. Your primary role is to provide specialized technical support in regards to designs, standards, commissioning, maintenance, operation, investigation in order to ensure safe and reliable Power Supply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform root cause analysis on critical equipment failures to determine the underlying causes and recommend corrective action.
  • Assess maintenance programs for high voltage equipment to identify areas for improvement and ensure safe and reliable operation of these assets.
  • Provide technical expertise to support maintenance of existing equipment, including reviewing spare parts lists and troubleshooting failures.
  • Provide technical consultation to assess the condition of aging switchgears and breakers including the use of new innovative technologies.
  • Offer technical guidance on repairs and evaluate whether equipment is designed to meet its intended service conditions.
  • Provide engineering input on repair details and offer onsite technical support for critical equipment.
  • Ensure that work packages are designed to meet the company's standards and material specifications.
  • Review company standards and stay up-to-date with international standards to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to stakeholders as needed to support the safe and reliable operation of high voltage equipment.
  • Provide technical design level insight of GIS technology, with a minimum voltage level of 69 kilovolts and higher.
  • Demonstrate an active role in the commissioning of GIS, either as part of a project team or as an original equipment manufacturer.
  • Assess and ensure compliance with manufacturing standards, such as IEC, during factory acceptance testing.
  • Assimilate and quickly apply newly acquired technical information to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in GIS technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of operations and maintenance experience directly working with GIS.
  • In-depth knowledge and recognition as a GIS specialist, including membership of international engineering bodies and contribution at international conferences.
  • A background in the oil and gas, utility, or equipment manufacturers is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering certifications such as chartership or PE is preferred.
