The Functional Safety Architect will design and maintain the functional safety architecture for automotive electronic and electrical systems in compliance with standards.

The core tasks of the Safety Architect are summarized here:


  • Foster the strategies behind the definition of Functional Safety requirements to develop the new Stellantis Hardware & Software platform.
  • Perform vehicle, system, hardware, and software level analysis to identify potential safety impacts.
  • Facilitate safety requirements definition and support other activities in accordance with the Stellantis Functional Safety Engineering Process.
  • Develop outstanding strategic relationships with product peers and engineering, research, business, design, and functional domain teams to help define EE architecture considering functional safety requirements “by design”.
  • Manage the execution of System Safety tasks, from Safety concept and safety program plan to components allocation of vehicles projects needs.
  • Develop a self-organized scheduling of deliverables to produce, according to milestones and responsibilities received by programs.
  • Perform design review activities, including DFMEA, supporting both in-house and supplier lead development to ensure that work products are compliant with Stellantis requirements and International standards.
  • Relentlessly drive to early life cycle delivery through an agile approach.
  • Establish and conduct collaboration opportunities with external partners or resources.
  • Facilitate research, design, development, and engineering skill development for the team.
  • Develop a culture of collaboration, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Willing to act and drive results.



Education

  • Master’s degree in computer science engineering or computer science or equivalent.

Preferred Requirements

  • Track record of delivering business and technology results for complex, cross-functional initiatives while managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Detailed knowledge about Functional Safety standards: ISO26262.
  • Knowledge in Network Communication Design: CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, and Ethernet.
  • Experience with communication protocols (WiFi, 4G/5G, V2X connectivity).
  • Understanding of typical vehicle EE architectures and STLA automotive development processes.
  • Management experience in ideating and creating intellectual property.
  • Strong systems thinker.
  • Fluency in English is required; any other European language is an advantage.
  • Designed EE platforms or components for Service Oriented Architectures (SOA).
  • Understanding of Safety of the Intended function (SOTIF).
