Functional Analyst, AFFS Accounting Onboarding

The Financial Analyst will partner with the Accounting Onboarding team (based in the U.S.) to support various Amazon businesses for launching their products and services by automating their accounting and reconciliation processes. This role is a key part of Amazon’s Finance Operations, Accounting & Analysis (FOAA) team – a fast‑paced, team‑focused, dynamic environment that prioritizes delivering great customer experiences. Key job responsibilities

  • Possess knowledge of an application’s functionality and configure it to support business processes.
  • Help customers author and release accounting configurations using home‑grown business configuration management solutions.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues by partnering with internal technical teams across the organization.
  • Work closely with technical teams across Amazon’s lines of business to devise innovative solutions that accelerate adoption of technology used for financial reporting and reconciliation.
  • Manage projects independently and support global businesses and development teams in designing and implementing accounting systems.
  • Provide project‑management updates within and across business units to transition new processes and permanent solutions to the Amazon accounting team.
  • Coordinate with global accounting teams to establish and maintain strong communication channels.
  • Identify, implement, and adhere to best practices across all new project launches; offer and receive coaching, support, and guidance for the team.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in close coordination with business and accounting teams.
  • Provide inputs for monthly and quarterly business reviews in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate business reviews with data analysis and follow through with business leaders on actionable items to improve business metrics over time.
  • Measure and monitor metrics for new business initiatives.
  • Present recommendations to senior management on strategic decisions and planned future initiatives.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls, applying them in practice.
  • Ensure appropriate financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place, documented, and operating as intended.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance controls.
  • Actively participate in strategic initiatives and special projects when assigned or required.

A day in the life

  • Prioritization, resource planning, and stakeholder management.
  • Gather requirements from Amazon businesses integrating with financial automation tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to devise optimal solutions for accounting automation.
  • Work on code review and configuration review processes following the guidelines.
  • Participate in UAT and guide internal customers with troubleshooting.
  • Deploy to production after acquiring UAT sign‑off from stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable experience.
  • 2+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
  • Experience using data to influence business decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects to scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
  • Experience in TM1, Data Warehouse, and SQL.
