SENIOR FULL STACK JAVA & ANGULAR DEVELOPER – ROME (HYBRID) – FREELANCE CONTRACT
Location: Rome, Italy (Hybrid – onsite during initial phase, increasing remote thereafter)
Contract Length: 6–12 months + possible extension
Rate: Up to €250 per day
Language Requirement: Fluent Italian (essential)
Eligibility: Must be based in Italy
About the Project
You will be joining a major national public sector organisation operating within Italy’s justice system. The department plays a critical role in delivering secure, large-scale digital services that support judicial operations, public administration processes and citizen-facing platforms across the country.
This is an opportunity to contribute to high-impact systems used at national level, working within structured, enterprise-grade environments with strong governance, security and compliance requirements.
The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Full Stack Java & Angular Developer to support the development, enhancement and maintenance of complex web-based applications.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary Agile team, contributing across the full development lifecycle — from technical design through to implementation, testing and deployment.
The role will initially require hybrid attendance in Rome to support onboarding and collaboration, with increased remote flexibility following the initial period.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain scalable Java-based back-end services
- Build and enhance responsive front-end applications using Angular
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical design discussions
- Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with external/internal systems
- Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code
- Perform unit and integration testing
- Support deployment and environment configuration activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including analysts, QA and DevOps
- Ensure solutions align with security, performance and compliance standards
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 8 years’ experience with Java (enterprise-level applications)
- Minimum 3 years’ commercial experience with Angular
- Strong knowledge of Spring / Spring Boot frameworks
- Experience building RESTful services and microservice architectures
- Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g. SQL-based systems)
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git)
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
- Understanding of secure coding principles and best practices
- Fluent Italian (spoken and written) – mandatory
- Must be currently based in Italy
