Role Description
This is (initially) a on demand project Freelance Fashion Designer role based in Turin, to convert into a permanent role, for the SE office, with a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site collaboration with flexible work-from-home options. The designer will develop fashion concepts and collections aligned with SUMEC’s textile and garment portfolio, including sketches, technical drawings, and detailed specifications. Daily tasks include selecting and coordinating fabrics and materials, integrating embroidery and textile techniques, and participating in fittings to refine garment construction and fit. The role involves close cooperation with product development, textile specialists, and production teams to ensure designs are practical for manufacturing and meet quality standards. The designer will also monitor market trends, support styling and presentation of collections, and provide timely communication and updates to stakeholders across different time zones. Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Fashion Design and Fashion skills, including concept development, sketching, and collection planning. Candidates should possess practical Textiles knowledge, including fabric properties, finishes, and suitability for various garments. Candidates should possess Embroidery expertise and related embellishment techniques appropriate for contemporary and commercial fashion. Additional beneficial qualifications include proficiency in fashion design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CLO or similar), experience working with manufacturers or suppliers, and understanding of production processes. Strong communication and collaboration skills, ability to work in a hybrid setting, good time management, and fluency in English; Italian or Mandarin language skills are an advantage.
