ContourGlobal, a KKR Company, is an established Independent Power Producer (IPP) developing, acquiring and operating electricity generation and storage assets worldwide. Following the recently announced transactions, the installed capacity managed by the company is 5.3 GW, almost 1 GW under construction and 9.8 GW under development . The footprint of the company now extends to 18 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America. The company has committed to speed up the decarbonization of its portfolio with a sustainable transition of its thermal fleet, the repowering of existing renewable assets and the organic development of new renewable projects. ContourGlobal has a track record of 20 years of experience in partnering with communities, institutions and customers that benefit from its power supply through long-term contracts or innovative PPAs, coupled with energy management solutions.
We are seeking a Financing Director to join our team in Milan or Madrid.
Job Summary:
As Financing Director , you will report directly to the Global Head of Financing and play a pivotal role in executing ContourGlobal’s financing strategy. Leveraging your background in investment banking or the power sector, you will help strengthen our project finance capabilities across the organization. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in all core aspects of project finance and a proven track record of leading complex financing transactions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead in autonomy the negotiation and execution of project financing for CG’s project development pipeline, including the solicitation, negotiation, documentation and closing of relevant financing structures.
- Provide project finance input into the corporate development and M&A process by assisting with the analysis of acquisition opportunities where project financing or refinancing is a factor.
- Own all aspects of assigned transactions, including interfacing with and managing external financial services firms, lawyers and consultants.
- Lead cross functional internal teams to provide analysis, approvals and deal support.
- Maintain a current understanding of the landscape and current trends of relevant financial markets including project finance structuring, nonrecourse debt, project equity and hedging.
- Collaborate with other ContourGlobal financial and corporate development executives to manage relationships with banks, particularly those active in the project finance domain.
- Analyze the current financing structures across the ContourGlobal portfolio and find opportunities for value creation or risk mitigation through refinancing.
- Liaise effectively with ContourGlobal Treasury executives to contribute to the process of ensuring compliance with the Group’s financial framework.
- Advise colleagues and joint venture partners effectively on the arrangement and structuring of corporate or limited recourse debt as well as on the associated structuring of commercial arrangements.
- Provide transparency to colleagues on the requirements and consequences of project financing as well as understanding environmental and social impact policies, including the standards of different lenders.
- Develop innovative project financing structures that become a competitive advantage for ContourGlobal when bidding for new projects and acquisitions
- Understand and ensure compliance with all ContourGlobal and relevant Government/Regulator requirements and regulations.
- Ensure that the current development portfolio is supported and enabled by the closure of effective project finance.
- Reduce the cost of debt across the portfolio by finding opportunities for refinancing.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the CG business, assets, strategy and strategic plan in conjunction with other CG executives.
- Maintain strong relationships with investment banks and other sources of transactions to provide access to deal flow.
- This role requires travelling 50% of the time.
Qualifications and Skills:
Your profile is a natural match if you have:
- Education: Master’s degree in business administration or finance.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in Project Finance acquired in Investment Banking or in Financing Department of a Power Company. Experience in the power sector is a must.
- Skills:
- Ability to manage financing processes and to close transactions.
- Confidence and judgment in challenging consolidated market conditions.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English
- Intellectual curiosity, searching for new and creative ideas and innovative financing.
- Intelligence and intuition, ability to understand the scope and complexity of our project-driven approach.
