Accounting Specialist
CharityStars is looking for a tech-savvy, forward-thinking Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role is perfect for a proactive professional with 2–3 years of experience who is ready to take full ownership of financial operations for Italy and UK activities.
We are seeking a technically proficient and forward-thinking Accounting Specialist to join our team. This position is designed for a proactive professional with 2–3 years of experience who is ready to take ownership of our financial operations across the Italian and UK markets.
The Mission: You will be the "engine room" of our finance department, but more importantly, you will be the architect of our digital evolution. We are looking for someone to dismantle archaic, manual workflows and replace them with streamlined, automated systems.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Transformation & Systems
Process Innovation: Evaluate current "legacy" workflows and implement modern, scalable solutions to eliminate manual data entry and paper-based hurdles.
QuickBooks Optimization: Transition the accounting environment into a fully automated "tech stack," leveraging QuickBooks Online apps and integrations to ensure real-time accuracy.
Management Control & Budgeting: Provide critical support for budget preparation, P&L analysis, and overall management control to steer business decisions.
Italian Financial Management: Lead the core of operations, including full management of Italian invoicing (Fatturazione Elettronica), VAT (IVA) compliance, and vendor relations.
UK Oversight: Maintain UK accounts, ensuring all reconciliations are accurate and compliant with local standards.
External Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact and support for external consultants and accountants in both jurisdictions.
Payments & Settlements: Reconcile multi-currency bidder payments (EUR/GBP) and manage the timely distribution of funds.
Cash Flow & Planning: Monitor daily cash flow, manage payment planning, and oversee the supplier payment schedule to ensure liquidity.
Financial Reporting: Generate comprehensive monthly reports and maintain a pulse on the company’s real-time financial health.
What we are looking for
Professional Experience: 2–3 years within an accounting or financial operations role. You are ready to step away from "just doing the books" to "building the system."
The "Change Agent" Mindset: You have a natural disdain for inefficient, archaic processes. You are curious about new finance tools (OCR, automated reconciliation, API links) and know how to implement them.
Systems Proficiency: QuickBooks Online.
Linguistic Ability: Full professional fluency in Italian and English. You will communicate changes and reports across both jurisdictions daily.
Operational Precision: While you innovate, you never sacrifice accuracy. You maintain high standards for data integrity and meticulous reconciliations.
Why Join Us?
Impact: Your work directly supports global charities and life-changing causes.
Growth: In a 2–3 year experience bracket, this role offers incredible exposure to international finance and cross-border operations.
Environment: A fast-paced, innovative team that values fresh ideas and technological efficiency.
Remote: Option to work remotely 2 days per week.
