Position Overview

We are looking for a Field Service Engineer Digital Technologies who will be based primarily in the Roma/Padova/Bologna area. The engineer will provide technical service and support in the field for Digital Pathology equipment, following ISO, FDA, and budgetary guidelines to minimize customer downtime and generate revenue opportunities for Leica Biosystems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide installation, maintenance, modification, and repair on Digital Pathology instruments.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers within established time guidelines to meet expectations.
  • Document service administration activities promptly to comply with ISO, FDA, and company policies.
  • Apply Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) on time to ensure instruments are updated.
  • Support sale of service contracts, assist sales representatives, and provide input on financial performance to generate service revenue.
  • Continuously broaden product, application, and professional development skills, representing the company professionally.
  • Maintain spare‑parts stock within budget to maximize “Fast Time Fix” repair metrics.
  • Control expenses to maximize profit contribution.
  • Instill confidence in customers and internal stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • Education in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Technology.
  • At least 4 years’ experience as a Field Service Engineer in the biomedical industry, dealing with diagnostic laboratory hospital equipment.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of network configuration, firewalls, TCP/IP, Windows environments, remote storage management, domain/non‑domain group policies.
  • Ability to learn technical areas with limited prior experience.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in Anatomy Pathology.
  • Knowledge of Digital Pathology integration solutions and software installations.
  • Database management skills, Windows Server 2008–2022, and virtual machine setup.

Travel & Physical Requirements

  • Willingness to travel extensively – up to 80% of travel with some international training.
  • Ability to carry and move up to 25 kg safely.
