The Italian section of MSF contributes to the international movement through human resources, fundraising, communication, and support to field operations and programs.
Scope, reporting and accountability lines
Reporting to the MSF Italy General Director, the FHR Director is a member of the Management Team of MSF Italy. They are responsible for developing and implementing the Field HR strategies of MSF Italy, leading initiatives and best practices to establish a compelling employee value proposition that supports the effective contribution of operational staff to the movement.
Responsibilities
- Define the strategic planning and positioning of MSF Italy concerning Field Human Resources, aligned with the organization's vision and strategic references.
- Ensure coordination, synergies, and cooperation among department units.
- Implement plans for Field Human Resources activities to achieve targeted results.
- Develop, review, and update policies relevant to Italian Field Human Resources, liaising with operational centers, international platforms, and the international office as needed.
- Inform, sensitize, and involve MSF Italy staff and groups on operational themes.
- Oversee recruitment, administration, and career management of Italian Field Human Resources based on operational needs and strategy, organizing the Field HR team accordingly.
- Represent MSF Italy within the scope of delegated powers.
- Ensure contributions from Italian field human resources are properly channeled to operational centers and promote new initiatives in this area.
- Collaborate with Communication and Public Engagement to develop strategies and activities for relationship building with health institutions, academia, and support fundraising activities with HR components.
- Ensure the Crisis Management Team is trained and support critical incident responses and investigations involving behavioral misconduct or interpersonal conflicts.
- Manage and coach the HR team, promoting commitment, collaboration, motivation, and professional growth.
- Maintain effective communication and synergy within the team and across MSF Italy components.
- Manage the department’s budget, planning, and HR metrics development and analysis.
- Oversee the development and assessment of Italian learning and development programs.
- Ensure staff health policies are properly implemented and staff are protected.
- Champion initiatives promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive work culture.
- Support strategic HR reporting, analysis, and visioning.
- Oversee psychosocial support initiatives for field staff.
- Advance duty of care standards, ensuring staff are informed of risks, responsibilities, and reporting mechanisms.
- Participate as a member of the MSF Italy Management Team in organizational goal development and execution.
