REF. FACILITY MANAGER

Job Description

We have an opening for a highly motivated Facility Manager to join our Team in IRBM. As a Head of Unit, the role reports directly to the CEO, the selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation, maintenance, servicing and safety of an organization’s buildings, grounds, and infrastructure for the continuity of operations.

This role ensures that facilities meet the needs of employees, clients, and visitors while complying with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Develop and implement strategic objectives and long-range goals and evaluate the effectiveness of operational activities and programs in the service of the facility.


Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate Engineering, Maintenance (electrical, mechanical, utilities, automation, scientific equipment).
  • Coordinate CAPEX plan and Site multi – years program for investments (infrastructure and scientific equipment) and contribute to the preparation of budget for the site.
  • Coordinate overall plan and projects for expansion, remodeling and upgrading of facilities, utilities and laboratories \ production equipment.
  • Supervise and manage all contracts related to maintenance (electrical, mechanical, utilities, automation, scientific equipment) and facilities management (fire prevention, elevators, pest control).
  • Supervise and coordinate operations and maintenance activities related to the maintenance of facilities, utilities, electrical systems and BAS (building automation systems);
  • Responsible for authorization and permitting (building, fire prevention, energy production, PED equipment);
  • Supervise qualification plan for GMP systems and equipment, including CSV.
  • Coordinate Site Energy Program and ISO 50001:2018 certification.
  • Support EH&S program and initiatives and assure compliance to any technical regulations and guarantee the application of EHS policies and directives in project construction) and maintenance activities.
  • Guarantee Site business continuity.
  • Work in close contact with Purchasing and Finance Offices for purchase orders and invoice management as well as for budget control.
  • Technical support for Third Part Audit (GMP and non-GMP), including Customers.
  • Drive and sustain a culture of continuous improvement
  • Facilitate and directly participate in the development of assigned personnel

Competencies and skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing large projects, managing efficiency and effectiveness of assets and team
  • Demonstrated capability to identify and manage emergencies and streamline multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Experience in project management, engineering, maintenance (electrical, mechanical, utilities, automation), facilities and energy management.
  • Experience in qualification and calibration for chemical and pharmaceutical plant, and in Computer System Validation.
  • Know how in mechanical, HVAC, utilities, piping and process engineering, electrical engineering and automation system (BMS).
  • Maintenance and Qualification for GMP and not GMP equipment and systems.
  • Proactive approach and team building spirit, can work cooperatively across the organization
  • Result-driven personality with high level of enthusiasm, energy and confidence.
  • Ability to build effective teams and set common objectives,
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to catch minor errors which can result in major problems.
  • Routine use of Windows Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project), AutoCAD software.
  • Knowledge of CMMS (Microsoft Navision Dynamics) will be a plus
  • Fluent in Italian and English (technical and business) both written and spoken
  • Problem solving and ability to work under pressure.
  • Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems


Qualifications and requirements

  • MS Degree in an engineering or technical area with at least 10/15 years of relevant experience as an Facility Manager or similar role (previous experience in the Pharma sector will be a plus);
  • Relevant training and/or certifications, PMP is a plus.
