Environmental Sustainability Manager
The position supports the Sustainability Senior Manager in overseeing and implementing the Sustainability Plan, with a focus on environmental impacts. The role involves coordinating activities at the local level to ensure compliance with national and international standards and industry best practices, aligned with MSC Cargo Division's Sustainability Strategy. The manager will identify and assess environmental impacts, research ESG trends and legislation, and collaborate across departments to set and monitor carbon reduction and environmental impact targets based on science-based initiatives. The role also involves representing MSC in sustainability platforms and industry associations.
Key Accountabilities
- Liaises with relevant departments and legal entities within MSC Cargo Division to embed environmental topics across all business areas, including supply chain management.
- Ensures supply chain impacts meet international sustainability standards and regulatory requirements.
- Supports risk management activities related to sustainability, including environmental and supply chain risks, within the Enterprise Risk Management framework.
- Participates in activities to mitigate environmental impacts, including biodiversity and circular economy initiatives, and climate change adaptation.
- Coordinates projects related to the sustainability plan's implementation.
- Analyzes impacts of EU and international environmental legislation, ensuring compliance and identifying funding opportunities.
- Contributes to projections of future carbon emissions and supports setting and monitoring carbon reduction targets.
- Acts as MSC's main contact in collaborative platforms and industry associations on environmental topics.
- Assists in developing and publishing the annual Sustainability Report, focusing on environmental impacts.
Qualifications & Education
- University degree (Engineering or Economics preferred); advanced degrees are a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant sustainability experience.
