You will act as the technical authority and solution architect for client card and payment systems while also serving as the front-line technical lead for the client. This role blends strategic system design, architectural governance, and deep hands-on support, ensuring all technical queries, incidents, and enhancements are handled effectively and with minimal business impact.
You will own the end-to-end technical landscape, guide design decisions, and lead complex problem resolution, while maintaining close day-to-day engagement with client stakeholders. This role is critical to ensuring platform resilience, regulatory compliance, and the continued success of a high-revenue, mission-critical client.
Key responsibilities
Lead architecture for VisionPLUS and related integrations Own technical escalation and major incident management Design and govern mainframe-to-distributed integrations (APIs, middleware, event-driven systems) Oversee releases, change reviews, and system stability Provide hands-on support for critical online and batch issues Mentor engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives Ensure high availability, performance, and security standards
Required experience
Strong experience with VisionPLUS in cards/payments environments Deep knowledge of card lifecycle (authorisation, clearing, settlement, billing, disputes) Mainframe expertise: CICS and DB2 Experience with API-based integration and production support in 24x7 systems Strong incident management and root cause analysis background Fluent Italian and English Willingness to support out-of-hours incidents

Payments platform architecture experience at scale ITIL, API governance (Swagger/Open API) CICS/DB2 optimisation and DR/high availability experience
