Engineering Manager (Utility-Scale Solar & BESS)

Location: Italy

We are recruiting an experienced engineering professional to support the origination and development of large-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across Italy. This is a senior technical role focused on engineering leadership, grid connection strategy, and early-stage project development, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to move projects from concept through delivery readiness.

This opportunity suits someone who combines strong electrical engineering expertise with commercial awareness, stakeholder engagement capability, and the ability to manage complex project portfolios.

The Role

You will lead engineering design and grid connection activities during project origination and development, ensuring technical solutions are robust, compliant, and aligned with project objectives. You will coordinate consultants, manage engineering deliverables, support budgeting and forecasting, and guide projects through grid approval and permitting processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering design and grid connection strategy for solar and BESS projects
  • Manage grid application processes and utility engagement
  • Support project costing, forecasting, and development planning
  • Coordinate HV studies, compliance reviews, and technical assessments
  • Oversee energy modelling and engineering documentation
  • Manage external engineering consultants and technical stakeholders
  • Enforce QA/QC standards across engineering deliverables
  • Contribute to technical proposals and stakeholder presentations
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and workflows

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience in utility-scale or commercial solar/BESS engineering
  • Strong knowledge of HV systems, grid compliance, and project delivery
  • Experience managing engineering teams or consultants
  • Familiarity with permitting and grid approval frameworks
  • Ability to prioritise across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Desirable experience includes engineering software proficiency (AutoCAD, PowerFactory, PVsyst), EPC or consultancy leadership exposure, and HV infrastructure project involvement.

Why Apply?

This is a high-impact role within a growing renewable energy pipeline, offering exposure to complex grid-connected projects and the opportunity to shape engineering outcomes from the earliest stages of development.

If you are motivated by technical leadership, renewable energy innovation, and project origination, we encourage you to apply.
