About the Role

Engineering Manager – Europe, Ashby. Lead a growing team of 25+ engineers, focusing on building ownership, capability, and an environment that empowers engineers to deliver high‑quality work.

Responsibilities

• Build and coach a high‑performing engineering team without the day‑to‑day burden of sprint planning or product decisions.
• Drive technical excellence by providing feedback on product and technical specs, influencing engineering decisions, and setting clear quality standards.
• Enable engineers to take large, loosely defined projects and deliver them with minimal intervention, while stepping in to debug, ship fixes, or improve the developer experience when needed.
• Maintain an environment of ownership and autonomy, ensuring that managers are hands‑on but not on the critical path.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners (product, design, ops) to shape the direction of key initiatives.
• Shape engineering culture by advocating for high‑trust, high‑autonomy practices and continuously improving processes.

Qualifications

• Passionate about both engineering and leadership; comfortable leading technically speaking and mastering deep conversations with engineers across infra, backend and frontend.
• Strong communicator skilled in giving constructive feedback, facilitating change, and balancing individual and organizational needs.
• Experience growing engineers to take ownership of large, complex work.
• Comfortable coaching, mentoring, and hiring of talent that thrives in a high‑autonomy environment.
• Positive, optimistic mindset that embraces innovative ownership and believes in building teams that operate differently from the status‑quo.

Compensation Range

€76K – €185K
