As Engineering Manager at Vertiv, you lead the thermal design activities for CW products, focusing on CRAH units and Thermal Wall solutions. You will guide NPDI execution, sustainment and ETO-C efforts, and translate requirements into robust, cost-effective chilled-water designs. You collaborate across engineering and manufacturing to drive scalable, manufacturable solutions for high-density data centers. This role offers impact in shaping cooling architectures and advancing a cross-functional, global team.
Lead CW CRAH and Thermal Wall engineering scope across NPDI, sustaining and ETO-C programs
Own engineering deliverables including thermodynamic selections, sizing assumptions, inputs for rating tools, BOM reviews and documentation
Coordinate laboratory validation and customer witness testing for performance and safety requirements
Ensure Thermal Wall meets high-density data center needs and integrates with facility chilled-water loops
Support sustaining activities through root-cause analysis, field issue resolution, obsolescence management and continuous improvement
Drive standardization, modularization and value engineering to improve scalability, manufacturability, quality and cost
Provide fast engineering response for engineered-to-order projects while protecting standard platform integrity
Collaborate with Offering, Advanced Engineering, Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, Procurement and global teams to align decisions with requirements
Review and approve user manuals, specs, design guidelines and release packages
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, EMC standards and promote disciplined design reviews and risk assessment
Develop and coach engineers and specialists, fostering accountability and technical excellence
Product and Technology Focus: CW CRAH units and Thermal Wall architectures, high-density data hall applications, and operational considerations
Hybrid data center cooling where air and liquid may co-exist with plant water targets and psychrometrics
Performance modeling and tools for thermal capacity, water flow, pressure drop, energy, acoustics, redundancy and efficiency
Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Thermal Engineering or equivalent
5-10+ years in data center cooling, HVAC, CRAH/CRAC units or similar thermal products
Strong thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, coil sizing, fan laws and valve control knowledge
Experience with product development processes, NPDI, DFMEA/DVP&R, validation planning and release documentation
Experience coordinating lab testing and interpreting performance data
Understanding of manufacturing processes, supplier interaction, cost management and DFMA
Knowledge of norms and standards for data center chilled-water equipment, safety, quality and EMC compliance
Leadership skills to prioritize work, develop people, resolve conflicts and communicate with global stakeholders
English proficiency (intermediate-advanced); willingness to travel between Italy and manufacturing/customer sites
Experience with high-density or hybrid data center cooling and knowledge of coil design, pressure drop, hydraulics and operating envelopes
Ability to translate customer and offering requirements into engineering specs, test plans and roadmaps
Detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to balance innovation, reliability, cost and schedule commitments
