Main purpose of the job
The Engineering Supervisor operates within a matrix organization, reporting operationally to the Plant Manager, who defines site priorities and day-to-day activities, and functionally to the Group Engineering Manager, who defines engineering methodologies, technical standards and best practices.
Lead local engineering activities related to molding process development, new mold development and process validation, ensuring alignment between plant priorities and Group Engineering standards.
Main responsibilities and duties
Lead the development and optimization of injection molding processes for new and existing products.
Define process parameters, operating windows and technical requirements to ensure robust, repeatable and capable manufacturing processes.
Lead process validation activities, including validation strategy, planning and preparation of VMP, IQ, OQ and PQ documentation.
Coordinate and review validation trials and test activities performed by internal or external laboratories.
Lead Process Risk Analysis activities in collaboration with Quality, Production, Regulatory and Technical Office.
Coordinate the development of new molds, from technical specification and design review through mold trials, qualification and release to production.
Collaborate with Technical Office, mold makers and suppliers to ensure that new molds meet technical, quality, timing and cost requirements.
Lead mold testing, sampling, process optimization and resolution of technical issues during industrialization and production.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives on molding processes to improve process capability, product quality, machine efficiency, cycle time, scrap reduction and manufacturing costs.
Provide technical support to Production for complex process-related issues, ensuring rapid troubleshooting, root cause identification and restoration of validated process conditions.
Assess technical changes affecting molds, manufacturing processes, equipment or materials, supporting Change Control activities and defining validation and revalidation requirements.
Develop, maintain and continuously improve process documentation, including process specifications, setup instructions, operating windows and engineering standards.
Support the technical lifecycle management of production molds by coordinating technical improvements, engineering modifications and performance optimization throughout their operational life.
Collaborate with Maintenance in defining technical requirements for preventive maintenance activities, troubleshooting recurring issues and improving mold reliability.
Ensure the successful transfer of new molds and molding processes into routine production.
Monitor validated processes and mold performance, identifying improvement or revalidation needs.
Act as the local technical interface with the Engineering organization.
Support internal and external audits on process validation and tooling-related matters.
Key Competencies / Qualifications /Skills
At least 5 years of engineering experience in injection molding, process development, tooling or manufacturing engineering, preferably with team coordination or supervisory responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of injection molding processes, process validation and mold development.
Knowledge of ISO 13485 and Medical Device manufacturing requirements
Experience in defining process requirements, operating windows, acceptance criteria and validation strategies.
Familiarity with validation documentation and methodologies, including VMP, IQ, OQ and PQ.
Familiarity with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and manufacturing performance analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex technical issues and identify effective solutions using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Why, Ishikawa, A3 or equivalent
Experience in developing and industrializing robust and capable manufacturing processes.
Good knowledge of design control, risk management and applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
Good project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, timelines and resources.
Strong communication, leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Good command of written and spoken English.
