Electrical Engineer - PV & BESS

Galileo Green Energy · WorkFromHome, Lombardia, Italia · · 50€ - 70€

Descrizione dell'offerta

Galileo is a fast-growing renewable energy developer, investor and operator, currently in the very dynamic start-up phase. Since our foundation in 2020, we have secured a pipeline of over 16 GW of solar PV, onshore wind, offshore wind and storage projects across 10 markets in Europe.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to lead electrical engineering activities for PV and BESS projects in Italy from greenfield technical development through post-permitting, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover. This person will be based in Milan (with the possibility of hybrid remote working) and report to the EPC Director.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the definition of electrical design concepts and requirements (BoD/SoW, Employer’s Requirements, technical specifications) supporting tendering, contracting, and execution.
  • Cover the full electrical scope across the plant and grid interface, from development stage up to construction, including:
    • DC and AC design concepts for PV and BESS (collection systems, aux supplies, control/communication interfaces)
    • MV and HV systems, including substation and grid-connection interfaces (primary/secondary systems coordination as applicable)
    • Contribute to grid studies and assessments (e.g., short-circuit, load flow, harmonics, flicker, protection coordination), coordinating consultants/third parties when needed.
    • Review design deliverables (SLDs, protection & control schemes, substation/cabin layouts, cable schedules, grounding/earthing, lighting, auxiliary services)
    • Protection, metering, grounding/earthing, lightning protection and electrical safety concepts.
  • Ensure compliance with Italian grid codes and relevant standards (e.g., CEI/IEC), and support grid-connection activities in collaboration with the Grid team (DSO/TERNA interface).
  • Coordinate and/or review electrical deliverables from EPC contractors, consultants and suppliers; challenge design choices to ensure quality, constructability, cost effectiveness and risk mitigation.
  • Support procurement by evaluating technical offers, clarifying vendor proposals, and contributing to supplier selection for key electrical equipment (e.g., transformers, MV switchgear, inverters/PCS, protection systems).
  • Provide technical support during construction, including RFI management, site inspections, NCR resolution, FAT/SAT participation (as needed), and commissioning documentation review.
  • Manage technical risks and electrical interfaces between packages (PV/BESS/Wind, substation, grid compliance, SCADA).
  • Promote best practices for electrical safety, quality and document traceability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards, templates, and ways of working across the EPC organization.
  • Depending on experience and availability, support similar activities for wind projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical background).
  • At least 3-4 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering for Italian utility-scale PV projects (more senior profiles welcome); Specific BESS experience (PCS, EMS, control strategies, safety requirements, performance testing) is a plus.
  • Practical exposure to multiple project phases (development/design, execution, commissioning), ideally within an EPC, IPP, developer, OEM, or engineering consultancy environment.
  • Familiarity with MV/HV systems and grid-connection interfaces for renewable plants in Italy.
  • Experience with electrical simulation/design tools (e.g., ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or similar) and CAD.
  • Strong ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fluent Italian; professional English is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Italy for meetings and site activities.

Benefits

  • Play a leading role in Galileo's evolution from developer to IPP.
  • Work on interesting and ambitious renewable energy projects.
  • Enjoy an international environment, with opportunities for exchange with colleagues all over Europe and thrive in an informal culture that values collaboration and innovation.
  • Benefit from a competitive salary, flexible remote-working policy, and a supportive, fast-paced environment.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion: Galileo is a new and flexible employer, committed to providing equal opportunities, an inclusive work environment, and fairness for all. We encourage everyone who applies to emphasize what their passion, skills and mindset can bring to our company. In return we commit to evaluating your application fairly and objectively. This is the case no matter your race, gender identity, sexuality, age, family or civil status, disability, religion, or ethnicity.
