Electrical Design Engineer

Role: Electrical Engineer (Design)

Location: Milan, Italy (Hybrid Working)

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join a growing renewable energy engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge solar PV projects, taking ownership of designs and electrical calculations across medium-voltage plants ranging from 500 kW to 7–8 MW. The ideal candidate will bring strong electrical expertise, autonomy, and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges within a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop innovative solar PV projects using AutoCAD and other engineering tools.
• Perform detailed electrical calculations, including cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination, selectivity, load flow, earthing, and arc flash studies.
• Ensure compliance with DSO portals, grid connection requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Use and maintain electrical test equipment for system validation.
• Collaborate with other engineers to optimize designs and support project delivery from concept to commissioning.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proven ability to design complex solar PV systems with AutoCAD.
• Strong electrical knowledge and experience across a variety of designs.
• Mandatory experience with medium-voltage (MV) systems.
• Hands-on experience with electrical calculations (cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit, protection coordination, selectivity, load flow, earthing, arc flash).
• Familiarity with DSO portals and regulatory requirements in Italy.
• Proficiency with electrical design and analysis software such as Ampere, Amtech, ETAP, EPLAN, SPAC Automazione, Caneco, Neplan, DigSILENT/PowerFactory, and AutoCAD Electrical.
