EIB Trainees - Portfolio Management & Monitoring Directorate - Disbursements Division - based in Luxembourg
This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi‑cultural environment.
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st April 2026) with possible extension up to 6 months if required by University.
Eligibility: Only applications from nationals of the European Union Member States or citizens of countries granted candidate status (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine) are considered. Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the traineeship will not be considered. Applications will be limited to a maximum of three; only the first three will be retained.
Joint Middle Office Department (JMO) Disbursements Division (DISB) is responsible for all disbursement activities pertaining to various lending products of the Bank within and outside the EU, and provides services to Operations (OPS), EIB Global (GLO), and Portfolio Management and Monitoring (PMM) Directorates. In this traineeship you will become familiar with EIB disbursement procedures and lending‑related contractual documentation, assist the unit in disbursement‑related tasks, and gain insight into other relevant activities that are crucial for the EIB’s project cycle.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of disbursement documentation for the validation of disbursements
- Support input on regular statistics
- Contribute to the revision of processes and the update of the Division centralised procedure space
- Contribute to the preparation of a FAQ guide on disbursements for the front office Officers
Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills
- Final year of studies or University degree preferably in finance, accounting, law or a similar discipline.
- First experience in accounting, law firm or audit will be considered an advantage.
- Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Word and Excel. Data analytics and/or knowledge of MS Collaboration software (SharePoint) would be an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of German, Italian or Spanish will be an asset. Knowledge of other EU languages will be an advantage.
