EIB Trainee - Operations Directorate - Deep Tech, Digital & Life Sciences Division - based in Luxembourg

This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi‑cultural environment.
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026) (With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)
Eligibility: Only applications from nationals of the Member States the European Union, as well as citizens from countries that have been officially granted candidate status to join the EU (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine). Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered. Please limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications; we will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.
Objective of the traineeship: To support investment officers in identifying, screening, analysing and approving co‑investments in start‑ups, growth companies and/or infrastructure projects. To support the portfolio management and monitoring of the co‑investment portfolio. You will be provided with in‑house training and support from seasoned investment officers. It is expected that following the duration of the traineeship, the selected applicants will be able to identify key financial and business metrics used in growth capital and infrastructure investments, understand financial models and compile and present portfolio information.
Responsibilities
- Review and summarise co‑investment proposals.
- Screen markets using financial and industry databases.
- Review financial models.
- Prepare marketing materials.
- Prepare industry peer analysis and compile relevant analysis used in the approval process.
- Prepare ad‑hoc portfolio reports and analysis as part of the monitoring activity.
Additional tasks and responsibilities may be identified during the assignment.
Qualifications
- Final year of studies or University Degree in Finance, Economics or Business Studies or any related subject.
- First experience in finance or investment related fields will be considered an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel and Power Point).
- Excellent command of written and oral English. Knowledge of any other EU languages would be an advantage.
