EIB Trainee – Information Systems Directorate – Network & Data Centres Unit – based in Luxembourg
This position is based at the EIB Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. It offers an opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi‑cultural environment.
Duration: 5 months (fixed) Start date: 1st March/April 2026 (possible extension up to 6 months if required by University).
Eligibility: Only applications from nationals of EU Member States or EU candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine) are considered. Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the traineeship will not be considered. Only the first three applications per candidate will be reviewed.
Objective of the traineeship: Contribute to ongoing projects for the Network and Data Centre Unit with emphasis on: MPLS lines for EIB external offices; new building design wireless migration; update schema and documentation; improve existing templates; design automation scripts.
Responsibilities
- Participate in meetings to understand design decisions.
- Review documents and propose comments.
- Get acquainted with new technologies (on‑prem and cloud).
- Prepare new hardware based on procedures and templates.
- Update monitoring system after installation of new equipment.
- Update related documentation after new installations.
- Follow functional mailbox and organize incoming communication.
- Use EIB internal tools like ticketing system and document repository.
Academic Qualifications and Professional Skills
- Final year of studies or university degree in computer science or related disciplines.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English; knowledge of another EU language is an advantage.
- Advantageous: Cisco CCNA studies or certification; experience or courses in cloud technologies; network vendor courses or experience; automation or scripting/programming language experience.
