EIB Trainee - Finance Directorate - Financial Engineering and Advisory Services Division - based in Luxembourg
Join to apply for the EIB Trainee role at the European Investment Bank (EIB). This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence.
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026). Possible extension: up to 6 months if required by university.
Eligibility: Only applications from nationals of EU Member States and citizens from candidate state countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine) will be considered. Applicants whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered.
Objective of the traineeship:
- Quantification and monitoring of methodological assumptions made in the yield curve framework (R- ).
- Add the stakeholders DER and MDM- in the FEAS market instrument sign‑off (R-8553-8).
- Model Performance Monitoring: Unit and regression tests (R- ).
- Clarify convexity adjustment calculation and develop capabilities to calculate convexity adjustment on individual loan level (R- ).
- Model performance monitoring: User instruction of input control (R-6456-9).
Responsibilities:
- Close recommendations related to model monitoring and document them.
- Benchmark curves used for loan valuation against market standards such as Reuters or Bloomberg.
- Review and automate market instrument conventions retrieval from the Golden Source and compare them with existing conventions.
- Compare existing calibration instruments with those from the previous year, identify changes and reasons.
- Review and update the set of market instruments used for calibration.
- Automate convention retrieval from Golden Source for new instruments.
- Calculate convexity adjustments and contribute to implementation at deal level.
- Quantify methodological assumptions in the yield curve framework by performing impact tests.
Academic qualifications and professional skills:
- Quantitative analyst profile: Final year of studies or university degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, data science, computer science, quantitative finance.
- Programming skills, mainly Python.
- Finance knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
