Do you have the expertise and drive to maintain and enhance cutting‑edge systems in a world‑class facility? We are seeking an experienced EAI (Electrical, Automation, and Instrumentation) Engineer to join our team at the customer site in Lucca, Italy. This position is part of a multi‑year project with a major industrial client in Lucca, where our team is supporting the installation and commissioning of a new machine, as well as the ongoing maintenance and optimisation processes. The role offers the opportunity to work in an international and dynamic environment, contributing directly to the successful start‑up and long‑term reliability of a key industrial asset. In this position you’ll report to the Maintenance Manager and contribute directly to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical, automation and instrumentation systems at the mill.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all HSE policies, conduct risk assessments, and maintain safe work practices.
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for EAI systems, participate in troubleshooting, and ensure reliable operation.
  • Drive system reliability, manage life‑cycle strategies and develop SOPs for automation systems.
  • Work with internal teams, external experts and OEM suppliers to enhance system performance and maintain documentation.
  • Train and coach team members on system maintenance, programming and problem‑solving.

What You’ll Bring

  • High‑level qualification in Electrical and Automation Engineering.
  • Hands‑on expertise in PLC and DCS programming.
  • Preferably experience in maintenance within the paper industry.
  • Strong understanding of automation hardware/software, technical drawings and testing techniques.
  • Proficiency in English (Italian is a plus).
  • A proactive and safety‑oriented mindset with excellent teamwork and problem‑solving skills.
