Descrizione dell'offerta

Salemi Ceramics is a ceramics school in Salemi, Sicily, 45 minutes from Palermo airport. Our studio sits in the hilltop town of Salemi, surrounded by crumbling beauty, narrow stone streets, and a quiet rhythm, ideal for deep creative focus. It's a place where artists and students come to create, learn, and leave a lasting mark. Our Vision

is to make Salemi an international hub for contemporary ceramics. Our goal

is to help breathe new life into Salemi Old Town by nurturing a ceramics culture that attracts people who want to live, work, and create here. Our project brings together different initiatives, all revolving around ceramics. The goals are: to bring new artists to town, welcome responsible travelers, create new jobs, encourage people to invest in the town, and find ceramic lovers who would like to sponsor artists and creative projects. It's all about contributing to the local economy, building community, and enriching the town's cultural significance. About the Role

We're looking for a

Driver

who's more than just someone behind the wheel. You'll be the person who helps our students discover Salemi & surrounding areas, guiding them to wonderful meals, beautiful beaches, hidden cultural treasures, and unforgettable experiences. This role isn't just about getting from Point A to Point B (though safety and punctuality are essential). It's about

being a host .

A storyteller .

A warm presence

that makes students feel cared for from the moment they step into the van until they return to Salemi. You'll drive our 8 seat van, accompanying students to lunches and dinners at nearby restaurants, afternoon excursions to museums and cultural sites, and trips to local beaches. But more than that,

you'll be an ambassador for Salemi Ceramics : sharing stories, answering questions, and creating moments students will remember long after they've gone home. When you’re not driving, you’ll be supporting the school’s logistic operations that keep everything running smoothly:

unloading deliveries, organizing inventory, and replenishing stock using a company van . As you can imagine, we consume a high quantity of clay and order the best tools and materials to run ceramic studios. On top of that, the company has a number of properties to host our staff and artists in residence and they also need logistical support. At Salemi Ceramics, we value a strong connection with the local community

and give particular importance to hiring people from Salemi, who share an understanding of the place, its culture, and its spirit. What You'll Be Doing

Transportation & Safety

Drive students safely and comfortably to lunches, dinners, and excursions in our company van. Navigate routes to nearby restaurants, beaches, museums, and cultural sites. Ensure the van is clean, well-maintained, and ready for each journey. Prioritize student safety and comfort throughout all transfers. Hosting & Representing Salemi Ceramics

Welcome students warmly as they board - you're often their first interaction of the day and must be a reflection of the company’s values and hospitality. Share stories about Salemi, the region, and where you're taking them. Answer questions about Sicily, local culture, recommendations, and hidden gems. Create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that helps students feel at ease. Act as a bridge between the international students and your local knowledge. Coordination & Reliability

Work closely with the General Manager and program assistants to coordinate schedules and logistics. Communicate clearly about timing, pickup locations, and any changes to plans. Be flexible and responsive when schedules shift (as they sometimes do in creative environments). Serve as a reliable point of reference during transfers and outings. Logistical Support

Support our studios logistics and operations: unloading deliveries, organizing inventory, replenishing stock using a company van, picking up parcels and deliveries and any other necessities. Contributing to the Special Feeling

Create a welcoming, calm, and attentive environment throughout each journey: this is what we call ‘Special Feeling’ as part of creating an unforgettable experience. Pay attention to student needs - someone feeling carsick? Running late? Need a restaurant recommendation for their free day? Help students feel they're in good hands, experiencing Sicily with someone who truly knows and loves this place. About You

You might be the perfect fit if: You're from Salemi or deeply connected to the local area.

You know the roads, the restaurants, the best spots, and the stories that make this place special. (Candidates from Salemi are particularly encouraged to apply!) You have a valid driving license (Patente B italiana o equivalente).

You're comfortable and have experience driving an 8 seat van. You have good English language skills.

You can have conversations with international students, answer their questions, and share stories about Sicily in English. You're naturally friendly and approachable.

Students feel comfortable with you - you're warm, patient, and genuinely enjoy interacting with people from all over the world. You're on time and reliable.

When you say you'll be somewhere at 11:00, you're there at 10:50. Students and the team can count on you. You're flexible with your schedule.

Course schedules vary week to week - sometimes an early morning airport pickup, sometimes an evening dinner transfer. You adapt easily. You have local knowledge and pride.

You can recommend the best granita in the area, know which roads have the prettiest views, and love sharing what makes Sicily extraordinary. You understand the value of what we're building.

You want to be part of Salemi's regeneration and contribute to creating jobs and community in your hometown. What You Won't Be Doing

To be clear, this role is focused on

driving, hosting, and logistics , not teaching, studio operations, or event planning. You won't be responsible for curriculum, ceramics instruction, or managing the studio. Your job is to ensure students travel safely and happily between Salemi and their various destinations - and that every journey feels like part of the special experience we create here. Why Should You Apply?

This isn't a typical driving job. It's a chance to be an essential part of something meaningful - introducing international artists and makers to the beauty of Sicily, contributing to your hometown's creative regeneration, and building connections between Salemi and the world. You'll meet fascinating people from dozens of countries. And you'll contribute directly to creating the
