Purpose of the position

The Operations Director is responsible for a Hiab factory. They execute the operations strategy for the Division, ensuring the factory meets performance and growth targets based on implementing operational excellence to drive safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost efficiency. The Operations Director is responsible for ensuring the long‑term viability of the Hiab factory asset by building capabilities, enabling innovation, and fostering a high‑performance culture.

Key Accountabilities

  • Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) leadership
  • People leadership and development
  • Factory performance: safety, delivery, quality, inventory, productivity and cost
  • Capacity and production planning and materials management
  • Facility and inventory management
  • Production engineering and new product introduction
  • Quality assurance and continuous improvement
  • Global and local business process deployment
  • Collaboration with suppliers and supplier performance

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Define and execute a multi‑year operations strategy in line with division and Hiab objectives
  • Drive sustainable performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity (SQDIP)
  • Develop a long‑term factory footprint and E2E supply strategy to enable growth, efficiency and resilience
  • Ensure operations capability supports the business line demand plan and customer requirements

Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with EHS standards and embedding proactive risk management
  • Champion a zero‑defects, right‑first‑time culture, embedding quality excellence in all processes
  • Drive continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and digitization (Industry 4.0) to enhance competitiveness

People & Leadership

  • Build and lead a strong operations leadership team, providing direction, coaching and development
  • Ensure clear team structures, objectives and accountability to deliver strategic outcomes
  • Promote Hiab’s values and culture daily, fostering collaboration, inclusivity and trust
  • Secure the right capabilities and future talent pipeline to sustain long‑term business success

Business & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a key partner to Sourcing, R&D, Engineering, Sales, SC Planning and Services to ensure seamless end‑to‑end delivery
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and external stakeholders to secure cost‑effective and reliable supply
  • Balance short‑term delivery needs with long‑term strategic investments and improvements

  • All PSC employees, Hiab Sourcing Organisation (local/global), SIOP, R&D, Engineering, Sales, Services, CSCs, Finance, HR

External

  • Suppliers, other relevant stakeholders

Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s or equivalent degree in engineering, supply chain or business discipline

Experience

  • Operations experience: Around 10 years of technical industrial experience (truck, construction machinery, automotive, mining, agriculture), with proven leadership in operations and supply chain
  • Leadership and global experience: 5+ years in senior factory or operations management within a global, multinational company
  • Lean Six Sigma experience: Deep knowledge of lean manufacturing and its role in strategic competitiveness, Black Belt qualification
  • Other functional experience desirable, e.g. commercial, financial and people leadership
  • Change management experience: proven ability to lead change and change programs within operations
