Director of Operation

For our client, a company specialized in the production of agricultural chemicals, we are looking for the Operations Director .

ROLE

The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all operational activities across the company’s 2 production sites. This role encompasses a broad scope of responsibilities, including demand and supply planning, procurement, detailed production scheduling, import/export logistics, inventory management, and the sourcing of raw materials, labels, and packaging. It also involves packaging engineering and managing third-party manufacturing.

In this role, the Operations Director reports directly to the General Manager, and leads a core team of 4 direct reports and 66 indirect reports.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages demand planning, supply planning, and detailed production planning to drive effective and efficient delivery of goods. Works collectively with finance and the business functions to construct and achieve an inventory plan commensurate to business needs. Leads the efforts to maintain the disposition and rework plan for slow moving, obsolete, damaged, and off-grade inventory, including disposal.
• Plans, organizes, and directs work plan (budget) activities including developing the annual supply plan, establishing third party purchase prices for contract manufacturing, active ingredients, labels, and packaging.
• Plans, organizes, and directs work plan (CapEx) activities including facilities and equipment upgrade and innovation.
• Recruit, train, and supervise staff, fostering motivation and ensuring teams operate efficiently and in alignment with company goals. Leads a team of staff across different departments, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. Conduct performance reviews and provide training to employees.

EDUCATION

• Master’s degree in: Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or Pharmaceutical Technologies.
• Professional Certification (Esame di Stato).
• Italian mother language.
• Must be fluent, both verbal and written, in English.

EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 5 years as Operations Manager.
• Experience in the chemical manufacturing operations; experience in phytosanitary products is a plus.
• Prior experience in project management and operational excellence methodologies are a plus.
• Willingness to travel regularly.
