Description
The Auxiliary Services Manager is responsible for overseeing all functions of Auxiliary Services to include bookstore operations, food service, vending, and student pay to print services on the main campus and 5 satellite locations. Responsible for supervision of all employees and phases of textbook management and rental operations, future planning and implementation, and seeking out contemporary new sources of revenue to include such things as e-commerce, mobile app sales, and equitable or inclusive access.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement the strategic direction of all aspects of Auxiliary Services to ensure maximum efficiency and profitability. Responsible for overall daily operations of the bookstore, food service, vending, and student pay-to-print services to include such tasks as vendor acquisition and negotiations, contract renewal, fiscal budgeting and reporting, establishing and directing new sources of revenue, and employee supervision. Work with marketing to promote all Auxiliary services. Develop and monitor operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Responsible for all phases of Auxiliary Enterprises’ most substantial source of revenue, textbook management. This includes but is not limited to procurement of new and used textbooks, keeping current with the latest technology trends through the procurement of e-books, e-readers, and access codes (inclusive access program), ensuring compliance with new HEOA guidelines, handling all aspects of our extensive book buyback program, data inputs/updates and changes to the point-of-sale (POS) textbook system, periodic inventory checks, fiscal year end inventory, store set up each term, as well as all aspects dealing with returns of texts for credit.
- Responsible for the daily operation and profitability of the bookstore, including oversight of textbook and supply acquisition, floor stocking and setup, and sales, in addition to developing text related programs such as e-text transition and rental operations to increase revenue. Attends and promotes professional development activities. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Take a proactive role in communicating with customer and meeting their needs; meet regularly, listen to issues, and provide expertise and solutions.
- Assists in any manner necessary on sales floor or behind the scenes in order to ensure efficient day to day Auxiliary Operations to include accounting (daily revenue reporting), maintenance and support of the POS system. Ensure that all services related to campus operations are completed in a timely and efficient manner. Collaborate with other departments to assess operational needs and provide appropriate solutions. Perform activities in the absence of the assigned personnel.
- Maintains departmental procedures and process to ensure that course materials are available by the start of classes and proper shipping and receiving records and controls are conducted. Maintain procedures to ensure best business practices, as it pertains to operations of a retail business, functional areas of the bookstore, such as copyright permissions, textbook adoption procedures, accounts payable, accounts receivable, merchandising, store and POS operations manual, refunds and opening and closing the store.
- Develops and directs the bookstore staff in a team centered environment to ensure course materials, merchandise and customer services are provided for students, employees, and general public.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements : A bachelor's degree in a related field in business management, public administration, or administrative services.
Preferred Requirements : A bachelor's degree in a related field in business management, public administration, or administrative services plus three (3) years of directly related sales in a retail environment. Experience with Ellucian Colleague or similar financial management systems. Experience with inventory management. Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as point-of-sale software systems. Unique customer service abilities developed through long term retail experience; must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and detail oriented work environment. Knowledge of inventory control practices and procedures. Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures applicable to property and inventory. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with a diverse environment of student, faculty, and staff. Very fast-paced environment during peak periods. Must be able to multi-task and function efficiently under demanding conditions. Assigns and coordinates work to promote efficiency of operations. Provides limited supervision, guidance, training and orientation to bookstore employees. Must have successful history of managing employees at all levels, including recruiting, hiring, training, performance management, discipline, and progressive discipline. Assure that employee grievances are heard and resolved. Must be well organized and customer service oriented. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Anticipated Work Hours
Thirty-Seven and one-half (37.5) hours per week. Monday - Friday
Physical Requirements
Be able to perform physical/manual labor - Lift up to 50 lbs. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, operational policies, and procedures.
