About the Company

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo—and potentially humans in the longer run.

Our goal is to transport cargo and eventually humans, as we strive to make space travel more accessible and sustainable.

Key Responsibilities

As Nyx is an entirely new spacecraft, it is vital to control as much of the design and manufacturing as possible. The role requires strong support from procurement, and you will provide this as our Direct Material Procurement Manager, reporting directly to the Head of Procurement and Head of AIT. Your responsibilities are split across two main areas:

  • Facility readiness:
    • Ensuring that TEC’s workshops/factories are stocked with all consumables, equipment, and tools needed to produce Nyx.
    • Ensuring that TEC’s new office spaces have all materials required to build Nyx.
  • Production readiness:
    • Ensuring that all TEC in‑house production teams have the raw materials and parts needed to produce development and flight units of the subsystems TEC has selected to produce in‑house.

For both areas you will ensure that you:

  • Perform standard supply chain management activities such as strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation, negotiation of T&C and pricing, supplier OTD management, contract management, and run continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Do proper stakeholder management.
  • Actively engage and coordinate with AIT, Engineering, and Quality departments to align on material specifications, quality assurance, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain a financial overview and be able to report actuals & forecast at any time, comparing against the EAC.

This role can be based either in our headquarters in Munich, Germany, or our main testing facility in Bordeaux, France. You will fly on a quarterly basis to one of our facilities; detailed travel plans will be defined within the first quarter of your role.

Required Qualifications And Personal Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical/engineering or Business Administration field.
  • Basic experience (1‑2 years) with procurement/supply chain processes in a technical context.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with any Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) software.
  • Proven track record of ability to work autonomously under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • Quick learner and adaptable to new challenges.
  • Independent thinker and problem solver.
  • Only applicants from NATO friendly countries can be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience as a supply chain officer within a large aerospace OEM.
