Your mission

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for the implementation and continuous improvement of centralized IT systems and cloud-native infrastructure. You will design and optimize CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks to enable efficient and reliable software development and deployment processes. Working in a collaborative team environment, you will support enterprise‑grade Kubernetes and cloud platform capabilities, including microservices, virtualization, and container technologies. You will ensure the scalability, security, and high availability of development, testing, and production environments. The successful candidate will actively support the research community and collaborate closely with digital development, cybersecurity, and core services teams to enhance automation, efficiency, and service reliability. You will report to the Scientific Computing Support Manager.

CI/CD & Automation

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to enable automated testing, integration, and deployment.
  • Optimizing build, release, and deployment processes to accelerate development cycles.
  • Ensuring seamless integration across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Integrating automated security scans, compliance checks, and DevSecOps best practices into CI/CD pipelines.

Infrastructure as Code & Cloud Engineering

  • Developing and managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Automating provisioning, configuration management, scaling, and self‑healing mechanisms.
  • Implementing and supporting multi‑cloud and hybrid‑cloud architectures.
  • Planning, deploying, configuring, and managing new and existing infrastructure systems.

Kubernetes & Container Platforms

  • Implementing, administering, and maintaining Kubernetes (on‑premises and cloud), Docker, and containerized workloads.
  • Ensuring the health, scalability, performance, and reliability of Kubernetes, microservices, and related systems.
  • Monitoring and optimizing system performance, resource utilization, and latency.

Security, Reliability & Operations

  • Collaborating with the Cybersecurity team to enforce RBAC, secret management, encryption, and security best practices.
  • Diagnosing and resolving infrastructure and CI/CD incidents, performing root cause analysis, and implementing preventive measures.
  • Ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and operational continuity, including performing emergency maintenance.

Documentation, Governance & Support

  • Maintaining up‑to‑date technical and operational documentation.
  • Enforcing DevOps standards, coding practices, and operational guidelines.
  • Providing technical guidance, contributing to projects, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting broader DevOps, Linux, and Data Centre operations as needed.

What You’ll Bring

Essential

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure automation.
  • Strong expertise in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Deep knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills in Bash, Python, or Go.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on scalability, security, and efficiency.
  • Ability to collaborate in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Preferred

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
  • Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
  • ITIL certification

This is a permanent contract offered under CCNL Chimico Farmaceutico, Level B2.

Salary: up to €55,000,00 depending on the candidate’s seniority.
