Offer Description
As part of the ERC EPIC (GA 101124721) project, the candidate will develop advanced materials for biohybrid multisource energy harvesting. The challenge is to engineer platforms to study and exploit energy conversion on natural surfaces, creating biohybrid energy harvesting systems. Using surface functionalization and structuring (e.g., self-assembled monolayers, etc.) and techniques like AFM, lithography, bioprinting, and tissue extraction, the researcher will develop materials integrated into microfluidic and artificial leaf platforms. These will exploit triboelectricity and electrocatalytic processes as autonomous power sources for sensors and small robots. This role offers the chance to lead materials innovation in the SPIS Lab, translating electrification into sustainable energy.
