Overview

We are seeking a Design Manager to assume full ownership of the design process and lead multidisciplinary teams on complex, high-profile international projects. Based in our Milan office and reporting to the Technical Director, you will be accountable for the overall design performance of assigned projects, ensuring delivery in terms of quality, time, cost, and technical compliance. You will act as the ultimate design authority within the project, responsible for defining design direction, making key decisions, and ensuring alignment between all disciplines, stakeholders, and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and take full ownership of the design process across all project phases, ensuring alignment with project objectives, quality standards, and client expectations
  • Define and drive the design strategy, making key decisions and ensuring design integrity, feasibility, and constructability
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, ensuring effective collaboration and integration across all disciplines
  • Oversee design delivery, ensuring compliance with project requirements, timelines, and budget constraints
  • Act as the primary interface with clients and stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring clear communication of design intent
  • Monitor project performance, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions in coordination with the Technical Director
  • Ensure high standards of quality, technical excellence, and consistency across all design outputs
  • Promote innovation, digital tools, and BIM methodologies to enhance design performance and efficiency

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Architecture or Building Engineering Architecture (BIM/Digital specialization is a plus)
  • Registration with the Italian Architect Registration Board or equivalent international certification
  • 10–12+ years of experience in architectural or multidisciplinary design
  • Proven experience in a Design Manager or equivalent leadership role on complex international projects
  • Strong experience in full design lifecycle ownership, from concept to construction
  • Advanced proficiency in BIM (Revit), AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite, and related tools
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong decision-making skills with a high level of accountability for project outcomes
  • Deep understanding of construction processes, technical design, and coordination
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities
  • Fluency in Italian and English (additional languages are a plus)
