Design & Development Manager in Space Products / CTO – 100 % (m/w/d)
We are looking for a Design & Development Manager in Space Products, who will lead the design and development team and can eventually take on the role of CTO. The preferred candidate has a strong background in the design and deployment of systems incorporating radar, machine vision, laser technologies, and robotics, and deep expertise in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO). Previous experience in the development of the Autonomous Rendezvous Capturing system (ARCap) is advantageous.
The CTO role will be assumed once the candidate demonstrates the capability and relevance of their background experience to the activities carried out in the entity.
Responsibilities
- Lead the company's technological vision and strategy in alignment with our business goals.
- Oversee the development team, fostering an environment of innovation and high performance.
- Manage the development of the ARCAP module, including radar, machine vision systems, laser range finders, and robotics.
- Maintain oversight of system architecture and ensure integration and coherence across all technology platforms.
- Drive initiatives to secure intellectual property in collaboration with legal teams.
- Establish technical standards and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards in all tech operations.
- Engage with major stakeholders, including investors, government entities, and industry partners, to secure collaborations and funding.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain top‑tier engineering talent.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a senior engineering leader or CTO in the aerospace industry.
- Strong background in the design and deployment of systems incorporating radar, machine vision, laser technologies and robotics.
- Rich expertise in GNSS and Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO).
- Demonstrated leadership in managing diverse and highly skilled technical teams.
- Excellent problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Italian is a plus.
