For our Client, a leading industrial company, we are looking for a qualified
Deputy Design and Automation Manager
Reporting to the Automation Manager, the role will be responsible for the design and development of electrical, electronics and automation parts, subassemblies, machines for all the sectors wherein the company operates. The key role is analysis of project specifications, sizing, choice of engineering materials and components, drafting of drawings, layouts, designs and bill of materials. This role requires hands-on leadership at customer sites during installation, start-up phase of new equipment and troubleshooting as customer service.
A key focus will be constant interface with different functions but not limited to Customers, Technical
Sales, project management, mechanical engineers, purchasing office, warehouse, production, and
installation.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and proposing design solutions in relation to customer product specifications. Goals are to optimize design time, cost, and overall budget.
- Supervise, coach and lead activities of design engineers, technicians and collaborate in the planning of their activities.
- Preparation of project documentation viz. assembly drawing, part drawings, bills of materials.
- Performing computer simulations and experiments to virtually test and refine the Designs.
- Overseeing and supporting the assembly team, when required, in the development and manufacturing of prototypes and equipment for assembly and testing.
- Documenting the design process, iterations, and test analytics.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets.
- Preparing technical reports, design specification documents, and operation manuals.
- Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in technology, design trends, and engineering best practices in software and automation solutions.
- To provide pre- and post-sales support to Technical Sales including concept layout, scope formulation, and costing.
- Lead interactions with suppliers to optimize solutions or identify new components for codesign activities for optimizing cost.
- To carry out performance checks and inspections at the company & directly at Customers’ sites, when required, in compliance with current regulations.
- Visit customer sites to verify the solutions adopted or to define the resolution of problems.
Requirements & Experience:
- Minimum Graduate Engineer in Electrical & Electronics, OR Electrical & Software with automation
- Minimum of 20 years’ experience as Electrical and Software Design Engineer and at least 5 years in similar roles for companies designing machines and equipment’s preferably in food, pharmaceutical, and industrial sector.
- Proficiency with engineering design programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Rhino.
- Sound knowledge of design, and engineering principles and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional time management and organisations skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities (including in English language).
- Attention to detail, to be thorough, and critically minded.
- Ability to stay abreast of advancements in technology and engineering design trends.
- The ability to think clearly using logic and reasoning and with commercial awareness.
- Creative and with ability to come up with new ways of doing things.
- Availability to travel in Italy, Europe, and Non-European territories.
