YOUR ROLE
As a Defense Systems Engineering Expert/Architect , you will play a key role in building and expanding Capgemini Engineering Portugal’s Defense offering. Acting as a technical and sectoral authority, you will support pre‑sales initiatives, solution design, client and institutional stakeholder engagement, as well as the launch and delivery of Defense‑related projects. The level of seniority is flexible. What matters most is proven experience in the Defense sector and the ability to generate tangible impact within a global organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a recognized subject‑matter expert in the Defense domain (Army, Navy, Space, Dual‑Use, Security).
- Support pre‑sales activities, including solution and architecture definition, technical contributions to proposals, and engagement with strategic clients.
- Contribute to the definition and development of Capgemini Engineering’s Defense offering in Portugal, aligned with Group strategy and national and international market needs.
- Strengthen the organization’s technical credibility with clients, partners, and institutional stakeholders.
- Support the kick‑off and ongoing delivery of projects, ensuring alignment between operational requirements, engineering, and execution.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, data, software, systems, AI).
- Identify and drive innovation, R&D opportunities, and strategic partnerships within the Defense ecosystem.
YOUR PROFILE
- Relevant experience in the Defense sector, Armed Forces, defense industry, public bodies, or dual‑use programs.
- Strong technical background in one or more of the following areas:
- Systems Engineering
- Autonomous Systems (UAV, UGV, Robotics)
- Complex Systems Integration
- Software, AI/ML, or Control Systems applied to mission‑critical environments
- Experience or exposure to management, pre‑sales, product, or technical leadership roles is a plus.
- Proven experience in regulated, critical, or high‑responsibility environments.
- Certifications, security clearances, or NATO/EU experience are highly valued.
- Fluent in English (mandatory); Portuguese is essential.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong strategic mindset, with the ability to look beyond individual projects to the broader sector.
- Technical credibility, professional maturity, and sound judgment.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to build and scale new capabilities within a global organization.
- High degree of autonomy, sense of mission, and commitment to real‑world impact.
