You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing limitless capacity at the lowest possible cost.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of Network Decommissioning technicians.
  • Ensure removal of existing network infrastructure is non‑impactful and timely.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define plans and processes that achieve required capacity and network requirements via decommissioning efforts.
  • Partner with peer leaders within the NCD organization to create and perpetuate a lifecycle approach to standardizing and maintaining internal cabling throughout data center environments.
  • Identify and respond to risks and high‑priority issues, leading high‑profile projects as required to enable new capacity and services.
  • Support new automation introduction activities that reduce cost and decommissioning time, obsessing over reducing risk and legacy constraints inherent in existing facilities.
  • Travel 20% or more to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS data centers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of people management and team development experience.
  • 5+ years of engineering work managing large‑scale services.
  • Experience operating a mission‑critical team or product.
  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • Experience maintaining SLAs through proactive issue detection and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports.
  • 5+ years of experience in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units.
  • Experience working in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.

Location: USA, VA, Herndon – Salary range: 107,700.00 – 188,500.00 USD annually.
