Role Purpose

Our client, a global leader in the automotive industry with a strong dealership network, is seeking a Data Privacy Manager to oversee and strengthen its data protection framework.

The Data Privacy Manager (DPM) will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws across multiple jurisdictions, with a primary focus on GDPR. The role covers operations across EMEA and APAC and involves monitoring data processing activities, advising on regulatory obligations, and acting as the key liaison with data protection authorities.

This position plays a critical role in safeguarding personal data, embedding privacy-by-design principles, and promoting a strong data protection culture across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Liaison

  • Act as the primary point of contact with data protection authorities
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and other applicable data protection regulations
  • Manage and report personal data breaches to relevant authorities
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure timely implementation across the business

Oversight, Monitoring & Risk Assessment

  • Lead GDPR compliance across business units, working closely with senior stakeholders
  • Oversee key data protection frameworks including DPIAs, RoPA, and control reporting
  • Ensure appropriate consent management and data processing agreements are in place
  • Monitor the protection of personal and sensitive data, including technology controls
  • Identify data protection risks and implement corrective actions
  • Support and review incident response plans related to data breaches

Data Subject Rights Management

  • Ensure effective processes are in place for handling data subject rights requests
  • Manage responses to complaints and requests in line with regulatory requirements

Advisory & Policy Development

  • Provide expert guidance on data protection matters across the organisation
  • Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
  • Advise on privacy considerations in new systems, technologies, and business initiatives

Training & Awareness

  • Deliver training and awareness programmes to promote a strong data privacy culture
  • Lead change management initiatives related to data protection practices

Reporting

  • Prepare regular reports on data protection activities, risks, and compliance status
  • Provide recommendations to senior management to strengthen governance and compliance

Key Performance Indicators

  • Level of compliance with GDPR and applicable regulations
  • Effectiveness of data breach detection, reporting, and response xdwybme
  • Timeliness and quality of data subject request handling
  • Coverage and impact of training and awareness initiatives
  • Quality and accuracy of data protection governance documentation
  • Reduction of regulatory, financial, and reputational risks

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Degree in Law, Data Governance, Information Security, IT, Compliance, or a related field

Experience

  • Proven experience in data privacy, data protection, or information security
  • Strong understanding of GDPR and international data protection frameworks

Certifications (Preferred)

  • CIPP/E, CIPM, CDPO, or equivalent

Skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Fluency in English
