Who we are looking for

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Data Engineer - Freelance to join our team at Bitrock. You will be supporting a data platform migration project for a client operating in the fintech / wealth management sector, working autonomously on a well-defined scope that combines backend data pipeline work with frontend dashboard replication.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Data Engineer with an eye for analytics, able to both build robust data pipelines and ensure the accuracy of business-facing dashboards. Experience working with dbt, Amazon Redshift, and BI tools is essential.


Key Responsibilities

Data Pipeline Engineering

  • SQL Transformation: Reverse-engineer and replicate complex BigQuery SQL logic within the existing dbt project on Redshift
  • Ingestion: Leverage the MongoDB to Redshift connector to ingest raw data, ensuring reliability and completeness
  • Data Quality: Validate migrated data against source systems with full numerical reconciliation
  • Documentation: Maintain well-structured metadata for all final tables, following the client team conventions

Dashboard & Analytics

  • Dashboard Migration: Replicate Looker Studio dashboards in Metabase, preserving layout, metrics and filtering logic
  • Accuracy: Ensure all migrated dashboards display exactly the same numbers as the originals
  • Stakeholder Awareness: Dashboards serve non-technical users in commercial, ops, compliance and ExCo functions - clarity and correctness are critical

Collaboration

  • Autonomy: Work independently within the client's existing toolset, using available documentation and migrated assets as reference
  • Communication: Provide clear updates and flag blockers to the Bitrock and client teams in English


What wee need from you

  • Solid experience with advanced SQL and complex data transformations
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon Redshift
  • Experience with dbt (Data Build Tool) for transformation pipeline management
  • Familiarity with BI / data visualization tools (Metabase, Looker Studio or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of Google BigQuery
  • Experience with MongoDB or NoSQL databases as data sources
  • Ability to analyse and reverse-engineer existing data pipelines
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy (data reconciliation mindset)
  • Fluent English
