About the Role

What Will You Do? As a Data Engineer – Contractor , you’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data infrastructures that turn raw data into reliable, actionable insights. You’ll work like an internal enabler for multiple teams, owning data pipelines end-to-end and ensuring data quality, performance, and availability across the organization.

Your Missions

• Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to ingest, transform, and serve data from multiple sources.
• Develop and optimize data models and warehouses to support analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision making.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance, monitoring pipelines and resolving issues proactively.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Tech, Analytics, and Business teams to understand data needs and translate them into scalable solutions.
• Enable analytics and experimentation by providing clean, well-documented, and accessible datasets.
• Drive continuous improvement of the data stack, tooling, and best practices, balancing speed, scalability, and cost.

What We’re Looking For

• Data Engineering Expertise – Strong experience building and maintaining data pipelines, warehouses, and integrations. Solid knowledge of SQL and modern data engineering tools.
• Cloud & Data Stack – Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), data warehouses/lakes, and orchestration tools.
• Analytical Mindset – Ability to understand business problems and translate them into effective data structures and solutions.
• Autonomy & Ownership – Comfortable working as a contractor with high ownership, managing priorities independently and delivering reliably.
• Track Record – 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in similar data-focused roles, ideally in startups or scale-ups.
• Bonus – Experience in SaaS, travel-tech, or hospitality-related data environments.
• Languages – Fluent English. Professional Italian is a plus.
