Manage a team that maintains cloud infrastructure for global data center operations. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for technology managers with people management experience, strong technical understanding, and a drive to elevate AWS Data Center Operations. The successful candidate will create strategies, mentor staff, sponsor projects, propose technical solutions, lead hardware and network diagnostics, participate in repair activities, and serve in an on‑call rotation.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators
  • Manage performance of diverse team(s) of operation professionals across locations
  • Develop career paths for employees and update internal tools
  • Recruit, train, and staff data technicians
  • Oversee day‑to‑day data center operations, queue management, 7/24 shift arrangement, and hardware logistics
  • Act as subject matter expert across all aspects of data center operations
  • Ensure all operational KPIs and metrics are measured and met
  • Inspire and guide improvement in team process, technology innovation, and automation
  • Lead Large Scale Events (outages) and serve as call leader
  • Improve workflows and throughput for data center operations
  • Recommend, document, and enforce policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and required SLAs
  • Maintain on‑call schedule, coordinating absences and vacations
  • Drive continuous improvement of service quality and customer experience

Essential Requirements

  • Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed
  • Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational
  • Travel frequency may vary based on business needs and facility status

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience, or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • 2+ years of operations and on‑call support experience for data center facilities, mission‑critical plants, or production facilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repair
  • Experience in technical writing in a relevant field
  • Certifications such as A+, CND (Certified Network Defender), Network+, Security+, CCNA, LPIC, Linux+, AWS certification, etc.
  • Experience with system management tools and client/server environments

The base salary range for this position is 90,300.00 – 158,000.00 USD annually.
