We are currently expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for proven technology managers with experience in people management, strong technical understanding and the drive and vision to take Amazon.com Data Center Operations to the next level. The successful candidate will have experience managing people with varying skillsets, devising strategies, mentoring people at all levels, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions.

The successful candidate will be operationally responsible for several of Amazon.com’s Data Centers during the day shift.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key job responsibilities

  • Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators
  • Routinely review ticket queue for large events and address accordingly
  • Coordinate change management resources
  • Guide, train and educate data staff on best practices related to all service owner issues
  • Manage and deliver mid-size projects
  • Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and required SLAs
  • Manage a diverse team of data technicians with varying skills
  • Provide weekly report to the data center manager
  • Maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absence and vacations
  • Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels
  • Host weekly staff meetings
  • Write and deliver performance reviews for staff

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of networking experience and knowledge of cabling best practices
  • 3+ years of experience with hardware architectures and troubleshooting
  • 3+ years of experience with system management tools and client/server environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in project management
  • 1+ years of data center experience
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $70,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $158,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
