Description
AWS is growing rapidly and is looking for a Data Center Operations Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team in Milan. Proven technology managers with experience in people management, technical understanding, and a drive to advance AWS Data Center Operations are sought.
You will create and devise strategies, mentor people, sponsor projects, and propose technical solutions. You will manage teams in hardware and network diagnostics with physical repair, participate in an on-call rotation, and work autonomously to manage teams effectively. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and rapid reaction are critical to success. Additionally, you will create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site‑level projects, and solve complex problems within the Data Center Space. The team operates 24/7.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and encourage a world‑class safety culture. Own safety initiatives and projects.
- Guide a team of technical professionals to support data center operations, engaging routinely in:
- Reviewing ticket queues for large events and acting accordingly
- Managing and delivering mid‑size projects
- Recommend, write, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and the required Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- Manage a diverse and talented team of Data Center Technicians with varying skills.
- Maintain the on‑call schedule and coordinate absence and vacations to ensure 24/7 operations.
- Participate in on‑call rotation for emergency calls.
- Write and deliver performance reviews for staff.

Basic Qualifications
- Direct people management experience and a proven track record of delivering projects despite competing priorities.
- Understanding of IT Operations and Service Management practices.
- Fluent English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IT infrastructure domains such as compute, storage, networking, cabling, and service delivery principles.
- Understanding of critical electrical, HVAC, control and Change Management Systems.
- Prior ownership of the operation of a mission‑critical team or product.
- Project Management Experience.
