Data Center Manager, Data Center Operations

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly and is searching for a Data Center Operations Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team in Milan.

Key job responsibilities

• Safety
  Follow and maintain the highest safety standards. Encourage a world‑class safety culture and own safety initiatives and projects.
• Data Center Operations (DCO)
  
  • Review ticket queues for large events and act accordingly.
  • Manage and deliver mid‑size projects.
  • Recommend, write, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and the required SLA.
  • Manage a diverse and talented team of Data Center Technicians with varying skills.
  • Maintain the on‑call schedule and coordinate absences and vacations to ensure 24/7 operations.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation for emergency calls.
  • Write and deliver performance reviews for staff.

Required experience

• Direct people management experience and a proven track record of delivering projects despite competing priorities.
• Understanding of IT Operations and Service Management practices.
• Fluent English communication.
• Experience with IT infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, cabling best practices, and IT service delivery principles.
• Understanding of critical electrical, HVAC control, and Change Management Systems (CMS).
• Prior ownership of the operation of a mission‑critical team or product.
• Project Management experience.
