Who We Are
We are looking for an experienced Data Architect with deep expertise in Azure and Microsoft Fabric to drive the design of modern, scalable data platforms for our client, one of the UK’s leading energy providers. This role focuses on shaping end‑to‑end data architecture across ingestion, transformation, governance, and analytics, leveraging Fabric’s unified data foundation and Azure’s cloud‑native capabilities. Your work will enable SSE to modernize its data estate, improve operational intelligence, and support critical initiatives in energy distribution, sustainability, and grid modernization within a highly regulated environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Input into and drive the creation of go‑to‑market propositions and services in Data Architecture
- Support client partners and practice leads in pre‑sales activities
- Lead complex client engagements
- Act as a go‑to practitioner in delivering projects in the Data Architecture field
- Data Architecture Frameworks
- Defining end‑to‑end Data Architectures
- Leading and developing architecture teams
- Joining the dots between Business, Technology and Data architectures
- Input into the shaping of Data Architecture engagements
- Deliver Data Architecture engagements with/ for our clients
- Remain up to date with the continuous evolution in the Data Architectures and ensure that this knowledge is made available to the wider Data & Intelligence practice
- Business Relationships: Client partners, practice leaders and members
- Peer level relationships within client organisations up to Chief Data Architect, CIO, CDO level
What You’ll Bring Along
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Engineerring, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years in data architecture, engineering, or consulting roles, with 1-2 years in Microsoft Fabric solution architecture
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Fabric core features
- Proficiency in cloud ecosystems (Specifically Azure, optionally AWS and GCP are an advantage) and infrastructure‑as‑code (e.g., Terraform)
- Strong background in databases, data warehouses, and distributed processing frameworks
- Familiarity with BI and data exploration tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Talend)
- Experience with data security, governance, and compliance frameworks
- Expertise in large‑scale ETL/ELT pipeline implementation using custom and packaged tools
- Must‑Have Competencies
- 5+ years data architecture experience – Enterprise‑scale solutions across multiple sectors with proven delivery track record
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing Microsoft Fabric architectures for enterprise clients
- Strong consulting values with the ability to interface effectively with senior stakeholders
- Hands‑on experience with SQL, ETL/ELT pipelines, and BI/analytics tools
- Deep understanding of the data lifecycle (ingestion, storage, processing, governance, consumption)
- Ability to link business objectives with technology strategy and execution
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Experience leading data modernisation initiatives across the Utility sector
