The purpose of this consultancy is to provide support to the CPDD team in the areas of ECD and within child protection, including birth registration, violence, and children living outside family care. The consultant will be supervised by the Senior Adviser, Statistics, Child Protection, Development and Disability within the Data and Analytics Section of the Office of Strategy and Evidence – Innocenti.
The consultant will be responsible for supporting the preparation and production of data‑driven products and publications, designing and advancing methodological work, undertaking capacity‑building efforts and outreach/dissemination initiatives, and providing technical assistance to countries.
Specific Tasks
- Data compilation, preparing draft charts/tables/maps and drafting accompanying key messages and technical notes; drafting short pieces of text, fact‑checking, and proofreading/reviewing data‑driven publications during the design/layout stage.
- Design and support methodological work to develop, validate and launch new data collection tools.
- Design and promote the adoption and uptake of statistical classifications.
- Undertake and facilitate capacity‑building efforts, workshops and initiatives.
- Provide technical assistance to countries for the implementation of data activities and ensure effective use and interpretation of data to inform programming.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Master’s Degree in Demography, public health, or another social science field.
- Work Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in data, statistics and monitoring at the international level, including project management around data activities and initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience with data compilation, analysis, and preparation of data content for publications.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing testing and validation of data collection instruments.
- Language requirement: Fluency in English.
- Skills:
- Technical knowledge of data related to ECD and child protection.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, interacting with colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, planning and analytical skills.
- Ability to take ownership and initiative; able to work independently and in a team.
Desirables
- Exposure to international professional contexts and/or multicultural environments within the United Nations System.
